Privacy Notice
A clear account of what we collect, why we collect it and the choices available to you.
1. Who we are
Merta is operated by Adithya Narayanan, a sole proprietor based in Bengaluru, Karnataka, India, trading as Merta (“Merta”, “we”, “us” or “our”). We are responsible for the personal data described in this notice.
Grievance Officer and privacy contact: Adithya Narayanan, hello@merta.ai.
2. Information we collect
When you contact us through the website, we collect the information you provide: your name, work email address, organisation, role, the programme, intake or student volume you describe, what you would like to improve, and whether you choose to receive optional marketing updates. If you write to us by email, we keep your correspondence.
We also keep the date and time of your submission and consent choices. Cloudflare may process limited technical information such as IP address, browser details, request headers and security logs when it delivers and protects the website.
If you accept analytics cookies, we also measure page visits, approximate location, device and browser information, report link clicks and demo-enquiry interactions. If you then submit an enquiry, we may attach the referring website, landing page and campaign labels to it. We do not send your form answers or contact details to Google Analytics. See our Cookie notice for details and controls.
Please do not submit student, applicant, passport, financial, health or other sensitive information through the website.
3. How and why we use information
- To respond to your enquiry and arrange a conversation.
- To understand which universities and partner organisations are interested in Merta and plan our work accordingly.
- To understand which content and traffic sources lead to enquiries and improve the website, if you accept analytics.
- To send product news, only if you ask us to.
- To secure the website, prevent abuse, diagnose problems and maintain records of consent.
- To comply with applicable law and respond to lawful requests.
We rely primarily on your consent and the steps you ask us to take when you contact us. For security and legal compliance, we may also rely on legitimate uses, legitimate interests where recognised, and applicable legal obligations. You can withdraw consent at any time.
4. Where information is processed
We use service providers to operate the website and its forms:
- Cloudflare hosts, delivers and protects the website and runs the form endpoints that validate and forward submissions.
- Google Apps Script receives submissions, stores them in Google Sheets and sends internal email notifications using its MailApp service.
- Google Analytics measures consented website activity. Analytics and advertising choices can be changed independently through Cookie settings in the footer.
These providers may process information outside your state or country under their own data-processing and transfer arrangements. We do not sell or rent enquiry information. We may disclose information when required by law, to protect rights or security, or as part of a genuine business reorganisation with appropriate safeguards.
5. How long we keep information
We normally retain enquiry information for up to 12 months after your last interaction with us. We may keep a minimal record of an opt-out or consent withdrawal for longer where necessary to honour your preference or demonstrate compliance. We delete information earlier when it is no longer needed or when a valid erasure request applies.
6. Your choices and rights
Depending on applicable law, you may request access to your personal data, correction, erasure, information about processing, withdrawal of consent or grievance redressal. You may also nominate another person to exercise rights where the law provides for it. Where the law provides for it, you may also complain to the Data Protection Board of India or to the data protection authority where you live.
To make a request, close your enquiry or stop marketing messages, email hello@merta.ai. Withdrawing marketing consent does not close an open enquiry unless you ask us to do that as well.
7. Security and children
We use access controls, encrypted transport and reasonable technical and organisational safeguards. No system can guarantee absolute security.
The website’s forms are intended for adult representatives of universities and partner organisations. Students who contact us should be 18 or over; if you are younger, please ask a parent or guardian to contact us on your behalf.
8. Changes and contact
We may update this notice as our services, providers or legal requirements change. The effective date above identifies the current version. Material changes will be communicated where appropriate.
Questions or complaints may be sent to hello@merta.ai or to the business address stated above.
